Wear A Poppy

Anyone else always lose their poppy?

I was out for lunch a couple times this week and in conversation poppy wearing comes up. Also, in a recent interview with Dwayne Clayden we shared about our poppies. The Royal Canadian Legion advises that the poppy not be changed in any way. So we had a great conversation about why Dwayne wears his poppy the way he does.

Do you know that through out that entire interview I made a mistake and wore the poppy on the wrong side. Might not seem like a big thing but I want to acknowledge it. You see just before our interview started I had to go put on a poppy. They keep falling off.

A poppy is to be worn on the left side.

My Mistake: I wore it on the right side.

Why do we wear a poppy on the left side?

Here’s why….

The left side is closer to our heart.

Also, it seems if the pin is placed directly in the centre it is less likely to fall off.

I’ll have to remember these things when I’m respectfully participating in Remembrance.
